Pamela Paul, New York Times, February 2, 2019. Pamela explains in her article “Let Children be Bored Again” The importance of boredom and how it has become viewed as a negative thing.
“It’s especially important that kids get bored- and be allowed to stay bored- when they're young” I agree with this quote because boredom is what sparks creativity. When you don't have anything to do or any work that you need to do on your mind, your creativity is unrestricted. Not only can you think of new things but you experience new things too. If you don't have anything to do you can explore the woods behind your house or try a new restaurant you never have before. Some of the memories that you most appreciate might be something spontaneous you did because you were bored. Not only does boredom provide you new experiences, but it gives you no excuse not to do that cleaning you need to get done. If kids use their boredom for productivity and to get things done they need to, they can build habits that they will carry on with them into the future.
